Journal Articles 

You can find periodical and reference articles online in the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) or in traditional print and bound titles listed in the Shelton State Libraries catalog.  You may access the AVL from any networked computer on campus or from home.  You may obtain a free AVL account in the library -- it takes only moments to get a login and password for 24/7 access to the AVL. *  To view other databases available in the library, you must be on campus.  There are some free scholarly journals available on the web. They are searchable on the Directory of Open Access Journals website.

While there are no records of individual periodical articles in the library's catalog, there are records of print and online journals to which the library subscribes.  You can discover whether or not the library holds print pr microfilm copies of the periodical for which you are looking by performing an advanced search in the library's catalog and setting the limits to one of the periodicals locations.  You can also search for particular journals and magazines in the AVL by searching SerialsSolutions (AVL card required).
